I think we discussed what I saw as a key issue in Sennett's Together after you left. It expands on the point Paul made about our inability to develop dialogical approaches. Sennett's analysis on the failure of co-operation is that in the 19th Century, much at the instigation of a certain Karl Marx in the first international, the left broke into the social left (dialogical) and the political left (dialectical).

Welcome (back) to the world of Evernote. I've been a huge Evernote fan for just over a year now and couldn't imagine my world without it. I had tried OneNote a few years ago, but it just seemed too big and heavy. Evernote has been my saviour. Though, it did take me two attempts (like you) to fully realise its potential. Great post, I enjoyed the read

Thanks,

Thanks for the input. Glad you like Evernote. I’ll go back and spend more time with the web. Interesting to hear your experience with the Android client, which I can’t try (BlackBerry and iPad myself). My wife and Kids use Android phones so I’ll have to get them to test it for me. The iPad client works great! The only issues so far I’ve had are to do with fonts on cut/past, so occasionally I find myself pasting to the standard iPad note app first to remove the formatting – otherwise I’...

<wfCategory>cloud computing,collaboration,apple,personal cloud,productivity,note taking,evernote,onenote,microsft,icloud,idatacenter</wfCategory>

I tried both Evernote and SpringPad (my ...

I tried both Evernote and SpringPad (my review is here: http://2fatdads.com/2011/12/evernote-vs-springpad/) but in the end I went with EverNote. I find Evernote works great on my laptop (Win 7) and well enough in my browser (Chrome beta on Linux). I can’t seem to work with the tables I create in the Windows client when I’m editing the same note in the browser, but otherwise I prefer web over client hands-down.

When people talk about "Best" practice what they really mean is "Standard" practice.

The "Best" practice will be, by definition, what the market leader in the sector is secretly doing to continue to be the market leader.

There's nothing wrong with "Standard" practice if you have no practice at all - just don't pretend it is "Best".
